Coping with all situations

Firefighting, public service and military vehicles – you see them every day. Their common features are reliability, in sometimes extreme conditions of use and total versatility. The well-known FAV (Front Armoured Vehicle), used by the French army in Mali for Operation Serval, can travel up to 1,000 miles per week (1) in all conditions, on asphalted roads, off-road, etc.

Just imagine what is expected of these vehicles in each situation: cold, extreme heat, potholes, off-road, speed, dust, etc. Imagine as well the impact on the tyres. They must be hard-wearing whilst ensuring the safety of the vehicle’s occupants. Being the vehicle’s only point of contact with the ground, choosing the right tyre is therefore essential.

Michelin X® FORCE™ ZL off-road tyre

Michelin introduces the new X® FORCE™ ZL tyre, which combines durability and safety. This off-road tyre is designed for light civil and military vehicles from 7 to 13 tonnes. Offering greater resistance to damage, it also has the highest load capacity on the market at 3,350 kg per tyre. Even with such a load, the vehicle can reach a speed of 70 mph!

Guaranteed mobility is essential as any downtime represents cost and even danger. The X FORCE ZL tyre reduces risks, particularly owing to its run-flat capability. It can run flat for 4 hours, over more than 60 miles. What’s more, this performance has been filmed on a Michelin test track.
