The specialist hauliers who move abnormal loads, need abnormal vehicles. Daimler trucks are among the specialist manufacturers. Ian Norwell reports from Alsace. They are a specialised breed, and so the number of trucks available for heavy haulage operators is not vast. In the past, beefier versions of existing trucks were pressed into service, and many compromises had to be made. For Mercedes-Benz, the advent of their Titan in 1996 brought a new level of truck tailored for the function.
