Solutrans, the international show for road and urban transport solutions, will open its doors for four days starting 21 November 2017. This year the show is focusing on the future of the sector and the effects of new technology.
Telematics – enabler of development and desirability?
Like the majority of private companies in the sector, some regions are gradually realising the benefit of using telematics in road transport. This is the case in Ohio, where its governor, John Kasich, wants to develop a “Knowledge Belt” to replace the former “Manufacturing Belt” that has now become obsolete.
To produce clean, renewable energy, the teams at Colas came up with the idea of covering the road with solar panels. The Wattway solar road project is currently being tested in France before it goes on the market two years from now.
New truck launches come in different strengths. They range from a simple makeover – little more than a powder-and-paint exercise – right up to the full-fat genuinely new truck. The launch of Scania’s new R and S Series in Paris in late August was most assuredly the latter, securing its place as International Truck of the Year 2017 just a few weeks later.
